HUMANISTIC JEWISH FAMILY SCHOOL

Our Sunday school has a wonderful educational program where families experience a curriculum of Jewish ethics, history, culture, and holiday events.  Families are part of a learning community that studies Judaism from our secular humanistic perspective.  Children and parents work together to create projects that they can take home to share and extend their experience of Judaism.  If you are from a multicultural or mixed religious family background, you will find our philosophy and curriculum very inviting.  Classes are twice a month at the Encinitas Community Center.  For more information about classes and fees call Madrikha Beverly Zarnow, 858-549-3088.

MITZVAH CLASSES

Our training for Bar and Bat Mitzvah is a unique experience tailored to the needs of the student and family.  Students may choose from a range of subjects to study that cover the span of Jewish history and culture.  They will also research a historical or contemporary Jewish hero as part of their mitzvah ceremony.  Mitzvah instruction will be conducted by Madrikha Beverly Zarnow for students 12 years and older.  Mitzvah training is a one year program with group classes held twice a month.  During the final three months students meet weekly for individual lessons with the Madrikha.  For fees and schedules call Madrikha Beverly Zarnow, 858-549-3088.

ADULT EDUCATION

A new series of classes on the philosophy and history of Humanistic Judaism will be held on the second Saturday of each month.   The classes will be led by Gary Zarnow and consist of a DVD featuring our founder, Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine, followed by discussion.  There is no charge for the classes.  Reservations are requested.  Call: 858-549-3088.
